Pure and luxurious heath rug, made in collaboration with nature. Materials: Dutch Heath sheep wool, tussah silk, mohair and merino wool. Diameter of this piece: 145 cm (57.1 inch). Natural woolen felt rugs
Our soft but thick, strong rugs consist of several layers of wool that have been placed over each other. Felted by hand with the age-old technique of rubbing the woollen fibres with warm water and soap until the material becomes felt. For our floorcoverings we use wool from long-haired sheep like Drenthe Heath, Schoonebeek and Swedish Gotland sheep fleece, which bring skins more to mind. We only use the hairs though – the sheep continue their lives. Our rugs are dyed with natural dyes. Wool’s affinity for natural plant pigment dye is second tot that of silk. We implement ecologically sustainable practices and therefore explore plant dyeing techniques, resulting in for example nuances of mark-making with leaf imprints, each unpredictable and individual. Our floorcoverings are designed as much for the living space as for the home-based office.
Care

Picnique at home cares about the world. We use only natural fibers and dyes, developed under the best conditions. We love the sheep growing our wool. We cherish the plants providing the pigments for our colours. Because our wallcoverings are made of 100% wool and silk, they are naturally fire retardant and do not require chemical treatment. We also care about the world inside: by creating warmth and beauty, we aim to enrich the soul. This sense of wholeness and caring for our inner and outer world carries through in our products.
